How to import a .gpx file to create a route ?

The import of .gpx files is now available on the website and the app!

On the Website

  • On the Routes page at Geovelo.app
  • Click on the Import GPX button on the left-hand side of the page
  • Make sure you select "Import a route"
  • Once the file is uploaded, click Import

On the App

From My Favorites

  • In the "Routes" tab
  • Tap the floating "Add a route" button at the bottom of the screen
  • Tap "Browse" to open your file explorer and select the .gpx file
  • If prompted, choose Import to create a route
  • Enter a title for your route

From My Profile

  • In the "Rides" tab
  • Tap the blue "+" button at the bottom right
  • Tap "Browse" to open your file explorer and select the .gpx file
  • Choose Import for activity tracking to add the ride to your stats

From the .gpx file itself:

  • Open your file explorer and tap on the .gpx file
  • Choose "Open with" → Geovelo
  • The file will load directly into the app, and you can choose "Import for activity tracking"

When importing .gpx files, you can import two types of files:

  • A route you want to plan/save: choose Import to create a route (you will need to save it to access it later in the app)
  • A ride recorded with another app: choose Import for activity tracking (this will add to your statistics)

It is currently not possible to import multiple GPX files at once.
